About Hackerville

Hackerville is an all-inclusive project, focused on teaching all age groups about computer security and why it still applies to them.

MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS

As with all of the literacy materials, we have designed them to be used as either stand-alone modules that you can integrate into any existing course, or as a series of modules you can include in a course focused around computing. For middle school-aged students, we envision that most teachers will choose one or two of the Cyber-Toons to present in an existing course.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

As with all of the literacy materials, we have designed them to be used as either stand-alone modules that you can integrate into any existing course, or as a series of modules you can include in a course focused around computing.

COLLEGE STUDENTS

At Iowa State University, we have addressed this gap in security education by developing a course entitled “Introduction to Computer Security Literacy.”  The specific purpose of this 8-week, 16-lecture course is to provide both students from technical and non-technical majors with the opportunity to formally learn about the many components of practical computer security knowledge.

THE PUBLIC

The Hackerville project is aimed to be understandable by everyone. We are working to create demonstrations for non-cyber professionals to emphasize the importance of cyber security and to exemplify how to keep your information safe. Regardless of work experience, industry, and age, cyber security matters and affects everyone.
